Harry Potter Books In Order: A Magical Tale

Harry Potter Books In Order: A Magical Tale

It’s been 20 years since the first of the Harry Potter books, Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone, was first published in the UK, which would go on to be published in the US under the title, Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone, the following year. To many’s surprise, it was an instant success and won several awards. That was only the beginning of what would become a global phenomenon for adults and children alike.

Although many critics deemed the author’s writing as workman-like, J.K.Rowling’s imagination had created a world that blended the fantasy of wizards, witches and magic with mystery and intrigue. The stories are charmingly led by a hero, Harry Potter, that showed it’s actually cool to be school. A humble hero and a tragic one at that, who must constantly learn his surroundings with us the readers, never knowing more than ourselves. It’s for this reason, us as readers, are drawn to Harry and his story, whether we are an adult or child and has been key to the stellar success of J.K.Rowling’s books.

Evidently, the success of the Harry Potter books shows no sign of stopping. The Harry Potter fandom are a powerful audience that loved, and continue to love, the Harry Potter books to this day. Today, there are many avenues that the series has influenced and become part of a wider cultural outreach. The sport in the books, Quidditch, is played in some colleges around the US and UK, with many youtubers and musicians online also sharing their love of the books through videos and songs.

This is why, 20 years on from its first publication, we still love Harry Potter. It’s not because the books have made a fortune or popular amongst the majority, but thy are loved by many because they have allowed us to explore a rich and magical world that we all wish to be a part of, to live out our own fantasy as a wizard or witch and be the Harry Potter of our world.
